As suppliers we often have a little bucket list of venues and suppliers we all secretly wish to work with. I recently saw a photographer advertising a 20% discount just to shoot a wedding at his favourite new venue. Creation Events was therefore, super excited when Connie and Ricky contacted me to be their wedding planner. Not only did they choose a dinning style very similar to what I had at my own wedding, but Connie also chose the beautiful Olive Rock as location for their destination wedding.

This venue is nestled in the rolling fields of wheat and vineyards close to Wolseley and Tulbagh, with majestic mountain views making this location a real diamond in-between the rough. As a girl from the Boland (a area in the Western Cape), I think this is the reason why I feel such a connection with Olive Rock… a little reminder of home. The Tulbach area is also an exciting “new” wedding area in our industry and we are seeing more and more stunning weddings being produced from top suppliers and venues from the area.

I chose the talented Anli Wahl to team-up with on the décor front and she was able to understand my vision to a “T”. I could not be more thrilled with how beautiful the end result were. In the below images, you will notice we didn’t have many formal table settings, but rather prominent floral features. This was due to our dinning style. Connie wanted to serve the entire meal as canapés and small bowls of food, allowing her guest to roam, talk and catch up with all the family and friends that they have not seen in such a long time.

I can however not write this post without mentioning Jani from Jani B Photography, my roomy at the wedding. Not only did she capture this couple and wedding so amazingly, but did she also make this wedding feel a little less than work …thanks for the fun late night chats.
