Second time mum-to-be Tanya was not impressed when hubby Lyle dragged her and little Connor along to “finalise arrangements for an upcoming staff function”.  She had envisaged a leisurely day of shopping for the new baby on this Saturday morning. When they arrived at The Stables at Vergelegen Wine Estate to find the room filled with friends and family, she was completely overwhelmed. She had no inkling that Lyle and her mum had been scheming to put together a baby shower.

Our brief was to create an event that was elegant, but with a sense of fun. We had the invitations custom-designed and printed, featuring playful hot air balloons, in gentle turquoise and grey. The same theme was repeated in the rosettes which served as place cards. The tables were adorned with simple white vases filled with creamy roses and lilies, provided by the inimitable Marida of Paradiso Flowers.

On arrival, the guests – several of them also sporting baby-tummies – were treated to iced tea or Vergelegen’s own bubbly.  We served a high tea of mini scones, quiches and cheese cake. The piece de resistance was the beautiful cake, created by Izza of RockyLoveEmily.
