26 May Real Wedding: Nicola and Nick
South African born Nicola met her Prince Charming, local boy Nick, shortly after she arrived in the UK as a student. As soon as they started dating – you guessed it – they became Nic & Nick. Ten years later and still inseparable, they decided to tie the knot. Nowadays Nicola calls London home, but there was never any doubt in her mind that she would get married in her native country. After endless hours of web-surfing, they found the perfect place – Rockhaven, a wedding venue near the town of Elgin in the Western Cape. Rockhaven is a picturesque working farm, the venue tucked away in a beautiful garden, right next to a lake, surrounded by lush valleys of apple orchards. They also found Creation Events, and thanks to modern technology, we could easily communicate across the distance to make sure that their destination wedding turned out just as they envisioned it. Nicola wanted a relaxed, romantic and intimate atmosphere that complemented the rustic ambience of the setting. Her colour scheme included soft creams, sage greens, greys and pinks. She also wanted to combine a bit of England with local elements, so she included typical English country flowers, such as dainty queens lace alongside stately South African proteas. The bride’s dress was a gorgeous tulle creation, scattered with sparkly sequins, looking light as air. It perfectly suited not only Nicola’s petite frame, but also the very hot January weather here in the Cape.
