29 Aug Real Wedding: Catherine and Paul – Waterkloof Wine Estate, Somerset West
Catherine and Paul, both South Africans, had to travel all the way to London to meet each other. Catherine, a doctor, and Paul, a HR director, is a modern couple who took a very relaxed approached to wedding planning. They selected the stunning venue Waterkloof Estate, which offers up a great combination of contemporary-meets-vineyard surroundings.
As a couple they had some brilliant ideas for their day, but they also allowed us to let our creativity run free. Most of their guests were travelling from outside of Cape Town and so Catherine and Paul wanted to ensure that the wedding incorporated touches of the Cape. This was done through the beautiful fynbos included in their flowers and Catherine’s dad made the delicious biltong favours for the day.
Catherine selected a palette of blush pink, creams, whites and greens as abase. To this pallet we added some modern copper geometric details to compliment the concrete structure and glass of the venue. In order to keep the wedding feminine, romantic and soft did we largely work with a combination of Protea’s, fynbos, soft pink/white roses and interesting greenery. Adding copper dusted Strelitzia leaves and salmon pink Anthuriums ensured that we gave the decor that slightly more modern touch. Personally I just love how beautiful their ceremony set-up turned out and, oh my gosh, how stunning was Catherine’s bouquet?
A big thank you to my team and the wonderful suppliers on the day.
